NEW DELHI – India’s Central Pollution Control Board has imposed “severe” category restrictions and directed officials to prepare to implement Odd-Even day traffic restrictions and other measures in an effort to reduce air pollution.

Restrictions on brick kilns, hot mix plants and stone crushers, power generation and other restrictions – including possible road travel restrictions under the Odd|Even plan – will be in place until January 31, 2018 in the wake of the ASEAN summit to be held in Delhi between January 19-30, 2018, officials said.

Calling for “zero tolerance” against unauthorised industrial activities, a pollution control task force also ordered coal-based industries such as the Badarpur Power Plant to shut down from January 15-30, 2018.
